Banking Veteran and Technical Specialist, Ramón Ortega appointed to head Chicago Office

Banker and technical specialist, Ramón Ortega, has joined Siebert Cisneros Shank as Managing Director and head of the firm's Chicago office. Mr. Ortega, a 15-year banking veteran, brings a deep well of technical skills and quantitative experience to his new role, as the firm continues its focus on the Chicago and Midwest markets. He has extensive experience in fixed income and municipal finance, most recently serving as a Senior Vice President in the Municipal Finance Department at Samuel A. Ramirez & Co., and previously as a fixed-income banking associate at BMO Capital Markets, both in Chicago. Prior that, Mr. Ortega worked as a fixed income banking associate at UBS Investment Bank and RBC Capital Markets. His technical abilities and data-focused approach will be particularly valuable in the Midwest markets, including Chicago and Illinois, where solving credit challenges is an important component of serving clients. “The Chicago market is vitally important to our firm and the hiring of Ramón to head the office shows we can compete with anyone to bring the greatest value to our clients,” said CEO and Chairwoman Suzanne Shank.

Eloner Habtezghi has joined the firm as Managing Director in the Corporate Finance and Capital Markets division, with a focus on energy, power and natural resources, continuing the expansion of one of the company’s strong growth areas. Ms. Habtezghi brings more than 20 years of energy industry and investment banking experience to the firm. In her most recent role as Managing Director at 2020 Global Ventures LLC, she was a strategic corporate finance and M&A advisor for companies and governments in the U.S., Latin America, and Sub‐Sahara Africa regions  across the energy, power and agribusiness sectors. Throughout her career, Ms. Habtezghi has served in key roles advising public and private companies while at prominent investment banking firms such as BNP Paribas, KPMG Corporate Finance, Banc of America Securities and JPMorgan. She has arranged and executed over $10 billion of global M&A and financing, including investment grade, high yield, convertible, and common equity securities. Prior to investment banking, she began her career as a reservoir and operations engineer for Phillips Petroleum Company, where she focused on the US Lower 48 conventional and unconventional resource basins.
