SCS Summer Interns spend day at NYSE

Diverse 2017 SCS summer intern class is largest in firm’s history

Siebert Cisneros Shank is pleased to be currently hosting the largest class of “Summer Analyst Interns” in the Firm’s history. In June and July, SCS welcomed ten such Summer Analysts, comprised of six college students, a graduate student, and three high school students—including one participating in “Futures and Options,” a program that “empowers New York City’s underserved youth to explore careers through career development and paid, mentored internships,” and one participating in the Chicago Summer Business Institute, which aims to incentivize high-achieving Chicago high school students to continue their education by introducing them to the financial services sector and preparing them for the business world. Eight of the Summer Analysts were located in SCS’ New York City headquarters and participated in the Firm’s recently redesigned rotational internship program coordinated through a collective effort of its Public Finance Investment Banking, Municipal Sales & Trading, Corporate Finance, and Corporate Capital Markets divisions.

Those participating in the rotational program in New York City began their internship with an intensive, four-day training program led by both SCS staff and outside subject-matter experts. Topics included an introduction to the financial services, economic and financial theory, financial modeling, and the development of specific banking and sales & trading skills. Since the conclusion of the training sessions, Summer Analyst Interns have been rotating through each group in the New York Office, further developing skills and, in many instances, adding significant value during their time with each team.

In addition to spending time learning and working, this summer SCS also increased its utilization of New York City as a cultural and educational resource. Most recently, this took the form of a trip to the floor of the New York Stock Exchange where SCS staff and interns met with Designated Market Markers (“DMMs”), had an opportunity to see the intricacies of the DMMs’ trading systems, and learn about the day-to-day operations of the world’s largest and most important equity market. Some photos from this fun event can be seen below.
SCS is proud not only of the success of its new internship program but also of the serious and valuable work its interns have accomplished. The Firm looks forward to following the continued success of the 2017 class.
